Halloween
This time of year can be very fun for humans but can be stressful and potentially dangerous for our pets. Follow the below link for information on how to keep your pet safe.

Looking for a great quality dog food at a reasonable price? Tired of paying more for less? Wish your money was going to a worthy cause instead of someone’s pocket? Check out Victor Dog Food! We carry the 40 pound bags of the Normally Active as well as the Chicken, Rice & Lamb Formulas. A portion of each sale goes to help the Danes that are in our program. Click here for more information.
Hi Everyone!! As most of you know on October 16, GDRST will be holding a garage sale to benefit the dogs in our program. We are looking for items to be donated to this event. Now is the time to do your Fall cleaning and get rid of those items that have been collecting dust in storage or in the attic. If you have anything that you would be willing to donate, please contact Judy at doggydane@aol.com. The more items we have, the better our event will be. Thank you in advance!

Meaning: A dog of unknown background, but even more significantly, of unpleasant and potentially threatening demeanor.
Origins & History: Said to have originated from around 1220 and to be based on the sound of growling – “Grrr…” The initial recorded version of the word is as a prefix in the medieval English kurdogge (in which the syllable kur – relates to Old Norse kurra, “to growl”). This would make more sense that trying to relate the term to Norman French expressions, from which English has derived such words as occur and recur, in which the element -cur has to do with “running (in a course or on a path).” To the Norman French, dogs were not runners but hunters; it also fits with the fact that English cur might through Old Norse therefore be cognate with Finnish koira, “dog.”

Did you know that there are nearly 40,000 species of spiders? Our pets are bound to get bit with this many around. It’s always hard to know if your dog has been bitten by a spider unless you see it happen. A spider bite should be considered anytime your dog has acute salivation, pain, anxiety, and an overall inability to get comfortable.
