Tip of the Week

Have you noticed your dog scratching, losing extra hair?  It may be due to the winter weather.  During the winter, the air tends to be drier and our pets spend more time inside with us where it is warm and dry air is constantly circulated.  Just like we battle dry skin during the winter so do our dogs.

Adding a fatty acid supplement specifically designed for canines to your dog’s food can help alleviate this temporary issue.  Also, make sure that your dog has plenty of fresh water as it is easy for them to become dehydrated.

* Always check with your veterinarian before giving supplements to your dog.  Excessive scratching can also be a sign of an underlying issue aside from dry skin such as allergies, diet, etc…
