We are well into the 2020 Hurricane Season, which is from June 1 – November 30. That being said it is always possible for named storms to pop up out of season. This year we had two named storms (Arthur & Bertha) in May.
Here is what experts expect our season to look like this year.
- 13 – 19 named storms (winds of 39 mph or greater)
- 6 – 10 of those could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or greater)
- 3-6 of those could become major hurricanes (category 3, 4 , 5; winds of 111 mph or greater)
Make sure that you have a plan in place in the event that you have to prepare for or evacuate due to a hurricane.
