June 1st marked the beginning of this year’s hurricane season. Each year from June 1 to Nov 30 is what is considered hurricane season. It is important to note that hurricanes can pop up before or after this time frame.
This year the NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration) expects a range of 12 to 17 total named storms. Of those 5 – 9 could become hurricanes…with 1 to 4 being major hurricanes.
