March 2 is Texas Independence Day.
It is on this day, annually, that many Texans remember Texas becoming its own nation and gaining independence from Mexico on March 2, 1836. The Republic of Texas existed from March 2, 1836 – February 19, 1846. It was during this time that Texans were known as Texians.
